The Merge is a unique fragmented art collection made from 312,686 pieces created by an artist named Pak. The digital artwork was sold to a total number of 28,983 buyers between 2-6 December 2021 on the popular NFT marketplace Nifty Gateway.
The unique artwork is a collection that was sold in units known as ‘mass’ and together fetched a total worth 91.8 million dollars. The Merge is to date the Most Expensive NFT digital artwork ever sold on any NFT marketplace.
Selling price – 69 million dollars
This digital art masterpiece was created by a well-known digital artist Michael Winkelmann also known as Beeple. The artist named his new collection The First 5000 Days ‘Everyday’. Earlier Beeple made six digital sales from its digital art ‘Crossroads’. This is one of the reasons why the price soars up to more than a million dollars within an hour.
The auction of the artwork was completed on 21st February 2021. It fetched a total of 69 million dollars making it the second most expensive nft ever sold.
What’s interesting is that the art piece now belongs to Metaourse, an NFT investment fund.
3. Human One
Selling Price – USD 28.9 million
Human One is another life-generative digital artwork created by Beeple. The NFT is seven feet tall and consists of the 3D movement of an astronaut walking across ever-changing landscapes. This artwork is completely different from the Beeples ‘Everyday: The First 5,000 days. Human One is a hybrid digital and physical artwork in four video screens of 16k resolution.
With Human One, Beeple added another successful NFT artwork sale under his name. It was sold for USD 28.9 million on 9 November 2021 to Ryan Zurrer, a Swiss entrepreneur and venture capitalist.
4. CryptoPunk #7523
Selling Price – USD 11.75 million
The next in the list of the most expensive NFT ever sold is CryptoPunks #7523. What’s unique about this NFT is that it is the only Alien character with a medical mask. The CryptoPunk #7523 is a bluish-green-skinned character that wears a knitted cap and earrings, too. This Alien collection was sold in June 2021 for UDS 11.75 million adding its name to the Most Expensive NFT token.

CryptoPunks was launched in 2017 by Larva Lavs a digital studio founded by Canadian developers. The collection consists of 10,000 tokens called ‘punks’. Each punk is different from one another, thus making each CryptoPunk an exclusive item.
5. CryptoPunk #3100
Selling Price – USD 7.58 million
CryptoPunk #3100 is one of the nine Alien ‘punks’ created by Larva Labs. It was sold for USD 7.58 million making it the second most expensive punk ever sold. CryptoPunk #3100 wears a blue and white headband with bluish-green skin.
One important thing worth noting here is the 10,000 collection of crypto punks only 406 wear headbands and 333 have just one attribute.
At the time of writing the CryptoPunk writing is for sale for 35000 ETH which is USD 114.54 million approx. Thus making it the most expensive crypto token ever sold.

Listed on Decentralized NFT Marketplace Super rare
The interesting thing about this NFT is that it was created as a satire for those who think that NFTs are just right-clicked and saved. The digital artwork is created by XCopy who is an artist from London and a well-known name in the crypto marketplace world.
Right-click and Save as Guy was listed and sold on the NFT marketplace Superrare for USD 7.08 million in December 2021. The NFT character wearing large shades and a hoodie with constantly moving red lips.
NFT image was sold for 1,600 ETH which is approximately USD 7.09 million. The NFT digital collectible storehouse ‘Cozomo de Medici’ bought this digital artwork.

Another digital artwork from a well-known NFT artist Mike Winkelmann, popularly known by his pseudonym Beeple. Crossroad is a digital art collection that features former US President Donald Trump ignored by bystanders while he lay on the field.

This NFT contains the source code of one of the earliest versions of the World Wide Web. Not only this the artwork contains several other things along with the source code.
