A blockchain service called Elrond will soon be available to Web3 crypto browser Opera’s 300 million customers. Opera users have instantaneous access to a number of popular services and decentralized apps (DApps) by use of the built-in Opera wallet.
Opera, one of the earliest web browsers, has been working on blockchain and cryptocurrency-related technologies since 2018. It released the beta edition of its “Crypto Browser Project” a specialized web browser in January. This project was developed with Web3 compatibility and enhanced privacy and security features in mind, making for safer web surfing. Elrond’s commitment to expanding blockchain use is bolstered by the partnership.
Introduction To Elrond
One of Europe’s first carbon-negative blockchains, Elrond is also a new blockchain network with a variety of infrastructure services for decentralized applications (DApps), business use cases, and the emerging internet economy. Opera’s Adoption of Elrond’s Blockchain Services Strengthens Web3’s Acceptance
The Elrond (EGLD) blockchain, a fast, highly scalable, and secure blockchain platform for enterprise use cases and distributed apps will be added to the already robust suite of networks supported by Opera Crypto Browser, the first Web3-focused browser with native support for dApps and a non-custodial wallet.
Elrond’s native currency, EGLD, will be supported in the Opera crypto wallet by the end of 2022, enabling users to send and receive EGLD on a blockchain that can handle 15,000 transactions per second (TPS). In addition to a multitude of P2E games like Cantina Royale, Knights of Cathena, and Age of Zalmoxis, you will also have access to Elrond-based dApps like the worldwide and automated trading portal Maiar Exchange.

Elrond, scheduled to launch in July 2020, bills itself as an “internet-scale blockchain” with an emphasis on usability, rapid transactions, safety, and privacy. This is possible because of the unique Secure-Proof-of-Stake (SPoS) consensus process used by the network and the adaptive state sharding mechanism.
Sharding methods in particular facilitate the decentralized execution of computationally intensive tasks over several nodes to expedite transactions and boost throughput. Elrond is the first blockchain to concurrently integrate all three components of sharding: state, network, and transactions. While other networks, notably Ethereum 2.0, are using or planning to utilize the idea, this is the first blockchain where all three aspects of sharding are implemented.
Elrond’s engineers have also secured the blockchain’s high degree of scalability by making the sharding architecture flexible, which allows for a throughput of over 15,000 TPS and a transaction finality time of under six seconds. While Proof-of-Work blockchains are vulnerable to certain types of attacks, the SPoS method tries to make them less so.

These networks include Ethereum, Bitcoin, BNB Chain, and Polygon.
