Playboy, the worldwide recognized lifestyle brand, is joining up with The Sandbox (SAND) to construct Playboy’s “MetaMansion” inside the metaverse, bringing the legendary party house into the digital domain.
According to rumors, the media industry is planning to launch a virtual version of the real-life Sandbox building on the metaverse platform in the near future as part of its Web3 strategy, a term coined by enthusiasts.
Every aspect of The MetaMansion will draw influence from the company’s seventy-plus years of publishing history, including its mini-games, social mixers, scheduled events, and recurrent digital collectibles releases.
In the Metaverse, Playboy Will Employ NFTs
Centerfold, a new creative platform, is a continuation of Playboy’s prior initiatives in the cryptocurrency-adjacent Web3 industry with non-fungible token (NFT) compilations, metaverse experiences, and Centerfold.
According to Playboy’s Chief Brand and Strategy Officer, Rachel Webber,
Working with The Sandbox and its world-class team to build a unique, premium Playboy gameplay and social experience in the metaverse is a wonderful experience for us.
She continued, saying:
Creating that setting in a virtual world and doing it in a modern manner is something that we’re really looking forward to bringing to fruition.” For decades, Playboy has been a leader in the entertainment and celebrity industries by providing a dynamic platform for the next wave of creatives to thrive.
Borget, The Sandbox’s COO and Co-Founder stated:
During a future LAND sale in the third quarter of 2022, “we’re happy to introduce its vast history of content into the metaverse and allow genuine fans to become virtual neighbors of this renowned brand.”
Sandbox and Playboy’s collaboration builds on Playboy’s pioneering work in Web3. Playboy, a Web3 pioneer, launched its debut NFT drop in the spring of 2021, named Liquid Summer. The Liquid Summer queue was gone in three minutes flat.
The first significant NFT collecting project was Playboy Rabbitars in October 2021. Members of Rabbitars and The Sandbox will have access to a Playboy-branded environment where they may purchase land in the virtual world.
Mini-games, scheduled events, social gatherings, and ongoing digital collections will all be part of this MetaMansion (NFT releases). With the help of The Sandbox, the well-known worldwide lifestyle brand Playboy plans to establish a Metamansion in the Metaverse.
‘The Sandbox’ will serve as the official home for this partnership, which will provide a virtual experience. Prior to its Rabbitar NFT collection’s release, Playboy had hinted at its MetaMansion NFT collection.
In addition to the virtual Playboy Mansion, the MetaMansion will have mini-games, organized events, social meetings, and continuing digital collections (NFT releases) based on the company’s more than 70 years of publication.
Additionally, Rabbitar NFT and LAND owners will be granted unique access to events, missions, and prizes, as well as the opportunity to influence MetaMesion’s destiny. In order to get a Playboy Rabbitar job, they will be able to authenticate their NFTs.
How thrilling is it that ‘Playboy MetaMansion’ has a channel on the Sandbox Discord? Every now and then there will be new MetaMansion content for the Playboy Discord server and the Playboy channel on The Sandbox server.
Aiming for frequent updates on the schedule for MetaMansion experiences, Playboy LAND has been revealed.
As a result of this partnership, Playboy has gained a foothold in the Metaverse and is now competing against other well-known businesses that have partnered with The Sandbox. Another well-known American publication is Time.
The Sandbox and TIME’s Web3 division are collaborating to construct a virtual version of Times Square.
The Sandbox, a blockchain-based virtual environment, and Playboy, a lifestyle and entertainment company established in 1953, announced their license partnership on July 11. According to a joint statement released by the two corporations, “social gaming” would be a primary focus of their new collaboration.
Playboy Makes His Debut in The Sandbox
A blockchain startup called The Sandbox has teamed up with PLBY Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: PLBY), more generally known as Playboy. Launched in March 2012, the Sandbox framework was a two-dimensional game that grew into an Ethereum-powered metaverse.
The “Metamansion” will be available to users as part of the deal between Playboy and The Sandbox. Playboy’s content catalog will be used to power the Sandbox-built Metamansion, which will include NFT treasures, scheduled events, social play, and gaming experiences.
Blockchain has been a part of the leisure and entertainment company’s business for a long time. According to rumors published four months later, the company’s Playboy TV said in March 2018 that it planned to develop a multi-cryptocurrency wallet.
However, the idea never materialized. An NFT collection titled “Liquid Summer” was announced by Playboy and Nifty Gateway in April 2021. The Miami Beach NFT Collection was released in July of the following year as a joint venture between the entertainment company and Super rare. NFTs and “unique experiences” for Playboy’s Rabbitar community will be part of the company’s newest cooperation with The Sandbox.
“We are pleased to engage with The Sandbox as well as its best-in-class innovation team to establish a premium, bespoke Playboy gameplay and social experience in the metaverse,” Playboy chief operation officer Rachel Webber said when asked about the alliance.
This new Playboy universe is something we can’t wait to show our international audience, particularly our Rabbitar community and The Sandbox LAND owners.”
The Sandbox metaverse has welcomed numerous new companies in recent years, including Playboy. It was announced on May 19 that the acid jazz-funk band Jamiroquai was working with the Web3 virtual world. Square Enix and Ubisoft have also joined with The Sandbox to bring Rabbids and the Dungeon Siege IP to the blockchain gaming world.
Nearly seven decades after being a pioneer in publishing, Playboy feels that the blockchain world of The Sandbox “provides a dynamic platform for the second generation of innovation.”
There are now Web3 users as well as older generations who like The Sandbox, according to Sebastien Borget, The Sandbox’s COO. “Playboy is symbolic for its charm, lifestyle, and entertainment content that has crossed generations and has already entered into Web3 with early success,” Borget highlighted at the announcement on Monday.
